The Gujarat Government plans to develop new and existing sites into Special Tourist Zones in Dholavira, Shivrajpur, Sir Creek, and Banaskantha. The Gujarat Tourism Department has allocated INR 200 crore for the creation of STZs, with state governments receiving INR 300 crore for greenfield STZs and INR 100 crore for brownfield STZs under the Union government’s STZ strategy. The aim is to improve tourism experiences and attract international participants.

Both new sites and current sites will be developed by the state government and turned into STZs, according to authorities. The locations of Dholavira, Shivrajpur, Sir Creek, and the border regions of Banaskantha are suggested to be developed as STZs, according to official government sources. According to reports, “the Sir Creek areas is proposed to be developed as a greenfield STZ, while Dholavira, Shivrajpur, and border areas of Banaskantha will be developed as brownfield STZs.”

For the purpose of creating special tourist zones around the state, the Gujarat Tourism Department has set aside INR 200 crore. Both brownfield and greenfield projects will be constructed in these suggested zones.

State government representatives said that while the Union government provides funding for the establishment of special tourist zones, the state tourism department has also budgeted INR 200 crore for this year.

Due to its extensive policy on special tourist projects, the Union government will provide the lion’s share of money for these unique initiatives.

State governments get INR 300 crore for a greenfield STZ and INR 100 crore for a brownfield STZ under Phase 1 of the Union government’s STZ strategy. States will get INR 200 cr for new STZ and INR 100 crore for brownfield STZ for Phase 2 if they achieve the pre-established performance-linked requirements.

The Indian government has developed the STZ development strategy in an effort to set new standards for tourist infrastructure, experiences, and goods as well as draw in international participants in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. The aim is to improve the tourism experience by creating integrated, expansive, contemporary tourist enclaves in collaboration with the private sector.

The Union government has established criteria for the establishment of the STZs in order to fulfill its objective of creating world-class tourist zones inside the nation and drawing in international players in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. Every STZ has to have a distinct identity. For these projects, the state government must present a thorough master plan.

The initiative also has to be responsible and sustainable. The area’s overall integrated development needs to be the main priority. According to GOI rules, the primary goal of creating such initiatives should be to draw in foreign visitors.
