Virgin Atlantic Launches Second Daily Direct London-Mumbai Service, Doubling Capacity to Meet High Demand for Premium Travel Trade Connections

Virgin Atlantic has officially launched its second daily direct flight from London Heathrow (LHR) to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), effectively doubling capacity on this popular route. The added service not only caters to the high demand for premium travel between the United Kingdom and India but also strengthens trade links, as Virgin Atlantic’s presence in India continues to expand rapidly.

This addition marks the airline’s fifth daily service to India, with plans to offer nearly 1 million seats by 2025. India has now become Virgin Atlantic’s largest growth market outside the United States, a testament to the region’s importance in the airline’s global strategy.

The service is operated by Virgin Atlantic’s Airbus A350-1000, a next-generation aircraft designed to provide an elevated travel experience across three cabin classes—Upper Class, Premium, and Economy. Upper Class passengers enjoy private suites with fully flat beds, mood lighting, and 18.5-inch screens, while Premium passengers benefit from custom leather seating, extra storage, and 13.3-inch screens. Economy travelers are treated to 11.6-inch seatback screens and modern amenities designed for comfort on long-haul journeys.

Shivani Singh Deo, Country Manager for Virgin Atlantic, noted, “Mumbai is an essential market, and we’ve seen a substantial demand for premium experiences on this route. Next year marks our 25th year in India, and this expansion showcases our commitment to offering exceptional service and connectivity for our customers here.”

The spokesperson for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport welcomed the expansion, highlighting Mumbai’s role as a premier aviation hub and the value of enhanced connectivity between the two cities. Virgin Atlantic’s increased capacity is set to benefit key trade sectors, including fashion, technology, and pharmaceuticals, reinforcing vital business ties between the UK and India.
