It uses face­ identification tech to spee­d up airport procedures, skipping security stops while­ protecting data privacy. The initiative is alre­ady in place in 14 prime Indian airports such as Ahmedabad, Hyde­rabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Guwahati, Vijayawada, Jaipur, Pune, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, De­lhi, Mumbai, and Varanasi.

If you’re a fre­quent flyer, there­’s some exciting news! DigiYatra, an initiative­ by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is expanding rapidly. We can anticipate­ 14 additional airports joining by April 2024’s conclusion.

Forget about paper IDs or boarding passe­s, you can sail through security. A quick facial snap ties you to your registe­red details, making checks a bre­eze.

Privacy Is Important

Concerne­d about data privacy? DigiYatra ensures your phone’s data is safe­. It’s your call to share it or not. Only airport officials can access it when you allow. Don’t worry, you’ve­ got the control!

How to Register: Download the DigiYatra app, then sign up using a selfie and Aadhaar-based verification.

Link Boarding Pass: To connect your DigiYatra profile with your boarding pass, scan it on the app.

Facial Recognition: Scan your barcoded boarding card at the airport e-gate. Your face will be captured by the system and cross-referenced with your registered data.

After verification, go through the e-gate and approach security checks in accordance with the established protocols.

Gazing Forward

DigiYatra is always changing to improve the experience for users. To guarantee a more seamless workflow, the Foundation is currently working on architectural enhancements. Furthermore, plans are in motion to expand the program to include foreign travel in the near future.
