Dubai Unveils Major New Year Holiday For Public Sector Employees On January 1, 2025 4

Dubai has officially designated January 1, 2025, as a public holiday for government sector workers, as announced by the Human Resources Department.

Public sector employees will have the day off on Wednesday, with regular office hours set to resume on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

This decision does not apply to organizations, departments, or institutions where employees work in shifts or have roles directly involved in public service or the management of public facilities.

Additionally, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources previously announced that January 1, 2025, will be a public holiday for both government and private sector employees across the country.

The upcoming year will kick off with the first public holiday in the UAE.

In 2025, residents can look forward to up to 13 days off for public holidays. A resolution from the UAE Cabinet revealed that the timing of the Eid Al Fitr holiday will differ slightly next year.

Additionally, both Ajman and Sharjah have declared January 1, 2025, as a public holiday for their government employees.
