United Airlines has announced an accelerated timeline for integrating Starlink, the world’s fastest and most reliable inflight connectivity system, into its global fleet.
Testing is set to begin next month, with the first commercial flight equipped with Starlink scheduled for this spring on a United Embraer E-175 aircraft.
The airline plans to upgrade its entire two-cabin regional fleet by the end of the year and introduce Starlink to its mainline aircraft before 2025 closes. United ultimately aims to equip its entire fleet with the cutting-edge service.
MileagePlus members will enjoy free access to Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet, unlocking streaming, gaming, shopping, and other entertainment options during flights. Membership in MileagePlus is free, and customers can sign up at united.com/starlink.
“We have big plans for our MileagePlus members this year, and the rapid deployment of Starlink is central to them,” said Richard Nunn, CEO of United MileagePlus.
“This partnership will not only transform the United flying experience but also pave the way for new benefits and partnerships for our members.”
United inked the industry’s largest Starlink integration agreement with SpaceX last September, marking a significant milestone for both companies.
Starting in a few months, United passengers will experience high-speed internet in the air akin to what they enjoy on the ground.
The gate-to-gate connectivity will be accessible on seatback screens and personal devices, setting a new standard for U.S. airlines.
MileagePlus: A Best-in-Class Loyalty Program
United’s MileagePlus program, recently recognized as the world’s best airline loyalty program, continues to offer unmatched benefits:
Free to join for all customers
No expiration on earned miles
No blackout dates for award seats
Miles usable for almost all onboard purchases, including snacks, Wi-Fi, and seat upgrades
Family and friend mileage pooling in joint accounts
On an average day, 31,000 seats on United flights are filled by MileagePlus members redeeming their miles—equivalent to filling 100 Boeing 777 aircraft.
Last summer, over three million customers flew using award tickets.
The addition of Starlink is expected to enhance the program further, delivering a seamless and game-changing inflight experience.
