Kuala Lumpur celebrates Chinese New Year as Malaysia Airlines adds 102 red-eye flights, boosting festive travel to Sabah and Sarawak with a special send-off.
Malaysia Airlines ushered in the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations with a memorable send-off ceremony for two special red-eye fixed-fare flights at KLIA Terminal 1. The event was honored by the presence of Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, Yang Berhormat Tuan Loke Siew Fook.
During the ceremony, YB Loke addressed passengers preparing to board flights MH7414 to Tawau and MH7436 to Sandakan at their respective boarding gates. He shared heartfelt wishes for the festive season and personally distributed exclusive goodies to mark the occasion. Joining him were key figures, including Dato’ Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport Malaysia; Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG); Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Airlines; and Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines (MAG). Both flights departed on schedule at 11:00 PM and 11:30 PM, respectively.
Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of MAG, commented, “Chinese New Year is a time for togetherness, and we are proud to support our customers with additional capacity and fixed fares to make their journeys more convenient and memorable. This is made possible through the Government’s support in making air travel affordable for Malaysians; ensuring they can reunite with their loved one with ease. We look forward to welcoming over 190,000 domestic passengers travelling onboard Malaysia Airlines during this festive holiday period and serving them with our Malaysian Hospitality.”
These services are part of the 102 additional red-eye flights introduced by Malaysia Airlines to meet the increased travel demand during the festive season. This expansion brings the total number of weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Sabah and Sarawak to 219. Travelers can also take advantage of fixed all-in one-way fares starting at RM399 to/from Sabah and RM349 to/from Sarawak, exclusively available through Malaysia Airlines’ official website and mobile app, ensuring a seamless and affordable travel experience.
Earlier in the day, YB Loke visited the airline’s Flight Management Building to express his gratitude to Malaysia Aviation Group staff for their dedication. His visit included a tour of the Operations Control Centre (OCC) and MH Crew Centre (MHCC), where he commended the commitment and hard work of MAG employees, particularly during critical periods, ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
