Akasa Air has increased the weight restriction for pet carrying in passenger cabins to 10 kg, allowing over 3200 pets since its introduction in November 2022. The policy also allows dogs to have travel credentials valid for 15 days, making it more convenient for short-term travelers. The airline has invested in training, research, and customer support to ensure animal care.

Akasa Air has announced an increase in the weight restriction for pet carrying in a recent update. Due to consumer input, their ‘Pets on Akasa’ policy has been updated to enable pets to weigh up to 10 kg in passenger cabins instead of only 7.

‘Pets on Akasa’ has permitted the passage of over 3200 pets since its introduction in November 2022, demonstrating the policy’s popularity among pet owners. The airline has raised the weight restriction to 10 kg (with the container) in order to comfortably handle larger dogs since it recognizes the value of customer input.

In addition, the airline is now allowing dogs to have their travel credentials valid for 15 days instead of just three, giving short-term travelers more options. According to Akasa Air, “Travel certificates for pets will now be valid for up to 15 days instead of just three, which will make it more convenient for customers who have short-term flights scheduled to return.” Customers will need to get a new travel certificate if they are traveling for more than 15 days.

Now, travelers traveling with pets on Akasa Air may take advantage of free value-added services that improve their entire flying experience, such as priority luggage delivery, priority boarding, and pre-booked window seats.

Akasa Air has made significant investments in training, research, and the customer support center as well as airports and in-flight crews to guarantee the best possible care, safety, and comfort for all passengers. To further demonstrate its dedication to animal care, the airline has partnered with the Umeed for Animals Foundation to adopt best practices in pet travel.

Belson Coutinho, Chief Marketing & Experience Officer and Co-Founder of Akasa Air acknowledged that the helpful input from pet owners was what sparked these latest innovations. He mentioned the airline’s commitment to providing travelers and their dogs with an inclusive and compassionate travel experience.

About the “Pets on Akasa” policy: On November 1, 2022, the policy was introduced. Travelers may bring their dogs and cats on domestic flights between 22 different cities. Since it began operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has carried over 8 million passengers and has connections with 22 cities, including well-known locations like Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi.
