To increase tourism in the area, a helicopter service to the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat peaks has just been introduced from the Naini Saini Airport in Uttarakhand.
According to sources, Joint Magistrate Ashish Mishra officially opened the service, which will run under the Heli Darshan program of the Uttarakhand government. After taking in the breathtaking view of the peaks, pilgrims will be flown back to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat in the Vyas Valley area in a Mi-19 helicopter.
Thanks to this effort, Hindu pilgrimage tourism has advanced significantly. The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) is prepared to provide helicopter services for the first time for Adi Kailash and Om Parvat. With the help of this project, pilgrims will be able to overcome barriers caused by geographical and seasonal limitations and get year-round access to these holy locations for a greater variety of devotees.
More than ten pilgrims are said to have set out on a trek during the first helicopter flight, which represents a significant advancement in accessibility. Situated in the Vyas Valley, Adi Kailash is a very significant site as it is the second residence of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Meanwhile, Om Parvat, which is a natural wonder on the boundary of India, Nepal, and Tibet, is perfectly shaped like the letter “Om.”
The nearest spot to see Om Parvat used to be Nabhidang, which required a difficult 11-kilometer hike from the Old Lipu Lekh Pass.
A portion of the pilgrims that boarded the aircraft were involved in the scheme’s first trial run, which is now in its experimental stage. According to Ms. Arya, should the initiative be successful, it will run five days a week beginning the next month.
The Joint Magistrate went on to say that the program was a noteworthy accomplishment for the state, especially in terms of boosting the Adi Kailash area, which saw an increase in popularity when Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to Jolingkong in October to have a darshan of the Adi Kailash peak.
To fulfill the spiritual goals of the devotees, the effort will enable them to do a one-day aerial darshan of both places. Additionally, a five-day helicopter yatra is set to begin on April 15.
All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are expected to take the place of the taxing hikes between Jyolingkong and Nabhidang, providing a pleasant ride across the icy terrain. This innovative helicopter yatra is set to take place between April 15 and May 1, 2024, with a follow-up in November that lasts until March. Its goal is to revolutionize the pilgrimage experience by offering travelers comfortable travel options, stunning aerial views, and a focus on community development. This will usher in a new era for Hindu pilgrimage tourism in India.
