Air India has redesigned its Flying Returns reward program, shifting from miles-based to a fair spend-based approach. The program offers spend-dependent rewards, evergreen points, no blackout periods, and cash+points options for award flights. Membership levels have been renamed Red, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
Flying Returns makes a calculated strategic change by moving from a miles-based collecting technique to a more fair spend-based approach. This aligns incentives with ticket prices rather than flight distance. With this modification, members will get better value for their money and may immediately begin taking advantage of the new program structure.
With renamed levels, updated branding, customer-friendly changes, and streamlined structures, Air India has revealed the much-needed redesign of its Flying Returns has gotten a refresh, focusing on easy usage, added rewards, and member acknowledgment. Now, members can experience instant worldwide status and worldwide benefits.
Changes are coming to Flying Returns. Instead of earning based on distance, now it’s about how much you spend. It’s a fairer system, directly linking tickets’ cost to your rewards. Now, you get more bang for your buck. Start enjoying this revised structure right away.
“The revamp of Flying Returns reflects the ‘new’ Air India’s commitment to serving and delighting customers. After extensive research and feedback from over 50,000 customers, we’ve crafted a more robust and value-driven loyalty program that we are proud to introduce today.”
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer at Air India
Among the revamped Flying Returns program’s main features are:
1. Spend-dependent Rewards: Rather than being dependent on the distance traveled, members will get more Flying Returns Points depending on the amount they spend on tickets.
2. Evergreen Points: Regardless of Membership Tier, Flying Returns Points will never expire for active members as long as they take at least one Air India flight every 24 months.
3. No Blackout periods: There are no limitations or blackout periods for members to use their points to purchase any available Air India seat.
4. Cash+Points Option: Allows you to choose how you want to pay for award flights—you may use cash or Flying Returns Points.
5. Global Network: With access to more than 700 destinations globally, members may accrue and use points on 25 Star Alliance partner airlines.
6. Global Status and benefits: All Star Alliance member airlines provide tier benefits, which include access to more than a thousand lounges worldwide for qualified members.
7. Renamed Membership levels: The membership levels, which now provide increasingly better perks, are now called Red, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
8. One-Stop Member Care: For easy support, Silver, Gold, and Platinum members may visit a specific member care center.
To provide Flying Returns Members with even more travel advantages and privileges, Air India intends to launch co-branded credit cards and form alliances with well-known businesses in the future.
