Carnival Corporation donates $60,000 to ProMedical Vanuatu, supporting emergency response efforts after the devastating earthquake in Port Vila.
In the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake that struck Vanuatu on Tuesday, a donation of $60,000 has been pledged by Carnival Corporation & plc to assist the non-government emergency response organization, ProMedical Vanuatu.
The tireless efforts of the ProMedical team were witnessed in the initial 48 hours following the disaster in Port Vila, during which survivors were searched for amidst the debris, and vital medical care was provided to the injured.
Long-standing support for ProMedical has been extended by Carnival Corporation through P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Partnerships program. This initiative, which is funded by guest donations, has been used to assist various charities and organizations in Pacific destinations frequently visited by the cruise lines.
This recent contribution was made possible through the collective efforts of Carnival Corporation & plc brands operating in the region, including Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, Cunard, and P&O Cruises Australia. The generosity of P&O guests has also played a significant role in enabling this donation.
The lifesaving work of ProMedical is expected to be further supported by these funds, ensuring that critical care and emergency response efforts can continue for the people of Vanuatu.
An offer of physical assistance through Carnival Corporation’s fleet has also been extended, with continuous coordination maintained with the Vanuatu National Disaster Management Office and other relief agencies.
