IndiGo has launched direct flights from Chennai to Durgapur, West Bengal, starting on May 16. The flights will operate three times a week, providing 28 weekly flights from Durgapur to major destinations like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. The addition of Chennai will enhance connectivity between Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, creating new trade and tourism opportunities.
IndiGo, a low-cost airline, said on Friday that starting on May 16, there would be direct flights from Chennai to Durgapur, West Bengal.
According to a statement from the airline, direct flights will be offered between the two cities on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, three times a week.
around 5.45 a.m., planes from Chennai will depart for Durgapur, arriving around 8.25 a.m. At 8.55 a.m., the return aircraft will depart from Durgapur and arrive in Chennai at 11.25 a.m.
According to the announcement, the addition of a direct route to Durgapur would improve the internal connection from Tamil Nadu’s capital.
IndiGo will now provide 28 weekly flights from Durgapur to major destinations including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai thanks to the addition of Chennai.
According to the statement, travelers from Durgapur will have additional alternatives thanks to this new link when it comes to connecting to other national and international locations via Chennai.
Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, is frequently referred to as the “Detroit of India” due to the abundance of significant car manufacturing facilities and related businesses in the surrounding area.
Durgapur, an industrial city in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district, is home to a region that is very mineral-rich. The Durgapur Steel Plant, which opened its doors in 1957, is located there. The city, which is home to numerous renowned institutions and universities, is a center for innovation and education and is situated on the banks of the Damodar River, according to the statement.
The airline also said that starting on May 15, flights between Chennai and Bangkok will resume.

The airline also revealed on February 29 that as part of its new internal route connections in the summer schedule for this year, there would be direct flights from Kolkata to Srinagar and Kolkata to Jammu.
