Dan Air, a Romanian airline has inaugurated a new route connecting Bacau’s George Enescu International Airport to Dortmund Airport in Germany.
This strategic addition aims to strengthen ties between Romania’s northeast region and Germany’s industrial heartland, catering to both the Romanian diaspora and business travelers.
Flight Schedule and Operations
The Bacau-Dortmund service commenced on December 18, 2024, and is scheduled to operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays until January 15, 2025.
After a brief hiatus, the route will resume in April 2025, maintaining the same bi-weekly frequency. Flights are operated using Airbus A320 aircraft, known for their efficiency and passenger comfort.
Flight DN425 departs Bacau at 10:00 local time, arriving in Dortmund at 11:45 local time. The return flight, DN426, leaves Dortmund at 12:30, landing back in Bacau at 16:10.
This schedule is designed to offer convenient travel times for both leisure and business passengers.
Strategic Importance
Dan Air’s CEO, Matt Ian David, emphasized the significance of the new route: “Dortmund is not just a new destination in our network but also a chance to connect the Romanian community in Germany to their loved ones back home.
By launching this route, we confirm our commitment to addressing our passengers’ needs by ensuring accessibility and comfort, and by setting frequencies aligned with demand.”
Ludger van Bebber, Managing Director at Dortmund Airport, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “Dan Air is a young and dynamic airline with ambitious plans for the European market. We are excited to be among the first German airports collaborating with Dan Air to offer our guests a thrilling new travel option.”
Expansion and Future Plans
Since establishing a base at Bacau Airport in December 2023, Dan Air has rapidly expanded its network to include 13 destinations across seven countries, transporting over 206,000 passengers.
The airline’s growth is supported by the Bacau Re-Connect project, an initiative by local authorities to enhance the airport’s connectivity and attract new carriers.
Looking ahead, Dan Air plans to open a new base in Bucharest in April 2025, launching nine additional routes to cities including London Luton, Valencia, Dublin, Zaragoza, Larnaca, Turin, Strasbourg, Copenhagen, and Hamburg.
These expansions reflect the airline’s commitment to meeting passenger demand and contributing to the development of Romania’s aviation sector.
Booking and Additional Information
Tickets for the Bacau-Dortmund route are available for purchase through Dan Air’s official website. Passengers can expect competitive fares, flexible booking options, and a commitment to high-quality service.
With the introduction of the Bacau-Dortmund route, Dan Air continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity, supporting economic ties, and serving the travel needs of both Romanian residents and the broader European community.
