The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has introduced a new tourist visa program called “GCC Grand Tours,” similar to the Schengen visa. This visa allows travelers to visit all six Gulf countries and stay longer than 30 days with one single visa. The GCC, comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, aims to facilitate travel throughout the region and promote tourism. The single visa is expected to grow the Gulf’s tourism industry significantly, attract more hotel visitors, and cement the region’s reputation as a top vacation destination for both domestic and foreign tourists. The joint visa scheme was approved by the GCC in November 2023 and is expected to be introduced later this year or early 2025. The new multi-nation visa is expected to be a major step towards enabling smooth travel across the Gulf area.
In relation to this, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE’s Minister of Economy, revealed the proposal during a panel discussion with significant figures from many GCC tourist bodies. The joint visa scheme is now being prepared for its impending debut, having been approved by the GCC in November 2023.
