A new ferry service from Lakshadweep to Mangaluru has completed a 13-hour journey in seven hours, carrying 160 passengers. The service is set to launch after several test runs. Concerns about harsh water conditions persist, but the island government has improved communication. The program aims to enable various forms of tourism.

A high-speed boat called ‘Parali’ has been introduced to try to shorten the trip between Lakhwadeep and Mangaluru. Five hours have been cut off the sea travel time between the two locations since these boats were introduced!

It is noteworthy that the new ferry completed the 13-hour voyage from the Lakshadweep Islands to the old port in Mangaluru in only seven hours on May 3, 2024, carrying 160 people. The first trial was conducted, and the feedback from passengers was astounding.

The Mangalore-Lakshadweep tourist liner service is scheduled to launch after a few test runs by the Lakshadweep Islands Tourism Development Authority (LITDA), which was established under the Central Tourism Ministry. But once the monsoon season starts, worries about how harsh the water would be persist.

The LITDA has improved the facilities at the reception point at Kadmatt, which is the closest port of entry from the mainland, in order to solve the issue. Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Lakshadweep earlier this year, the island government has improved communication between Kochi and Mangaluru on the mainland with great success.

The program is seen as a first step towards enabling several forms of tourism, such as health, educational, and recreational tourism on the mainland, as well as eco-tourism in the Western Ghats.

One of India’s less-visited beach resorts is Lakshadweep. Surrounded by a 4200 sq km lagoon rich in marine life, the coastal jewel is home to 36 islands scattered over 32 sq km of land. For vacationers, wildlife enthusiasts, and adventure seekers alike, this location is a veritable paradise.

Unmatched chances for diving, snorkeling, and other water activities are provided by its beautiful coral reefs, abundant marine life, and crystal-clear seas. The islands have a rich history and culture, and their architecture, food, and rituals all reflect a distinctive fusion of Arab, Indian, and indigenous influences. Lakshadweep provides a peaceful getaway from the rush of city life, with activities ranging from strolling through charming fishing villages to relaxing on sun-kissed beaches and indulging in mouthwatering seafood.
