IndiGo, the top airline in India and among the biggest worldwide, marked its 18th anniversary with a number of announcements that paved the way for the company’s next stage of expansion. The event brought together investors, partners, and luminaries from the travel industry in addition to the airline’s executive team. It took place at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Since its launch, IndiGo has connected 88 destinations with more than 400 domestic routes, revolutionizing and democratizing air travel in India and enabling millions of first-time travelers to go to the skies. The airline also broadens its reach internationally by operating over 100 itineraries that service 33 destinations. With the introduction of XLRs in 2025 and the widebody A350-900 slated for delivery in 2027, the airline has placed a record order for 500 aircraft.

Rahul Bhatia, the founder of IndiGo, spoke about the airline’s incredible journey from its founding to its current position as the seventh biggest in the world on this special occasion. He emphasized IndiGo’s aspirational development ambitions along with its dedication to cost leadership, quality, and customer happiness. He went on to stress how crucial complexity is to IndiGo’s products while also keeping structural cost leadership.

Plans for growth and additional locations

Jaffna, which will be the first foreign station run by ATR aircraft, was been announced by IndiGo as its 34th international destination. The airline intends to connect to more than 40 foreign locations by the conclusion of the current fiscal year. This growth demonstrates the airline’s goal of doubling its size by the end of the decade.

IndiGoStretch’s Business Class Admission

IndiGo announced the debut of IndiGoStretch, a revolutionary service that offers business class seats on the airline’s metro-to-metro itineraries. IndiGoStretch will launch on the Delhi-Mumbai route in mid-November and offers amenities like numerous power outlets, luxury seats, and coupe-style, two-seat wide bays.

BlueChip is a New Loyalty Program.

Additionally, IndiGo debuted its much-awaited loyalty program, IndiGo BluChip, which would provide BluChips to regular travelers in accordance with their expenditures. In addition to real-time tier upgrades and credits per purchase on flights, the program provides exclusive privileges. In order to redeem BluChips and benefit from lifelong validity for active members, members may designate up to five beneficiaries. The program will debut in its entirety in September 2024, with early bird pre-registration opening today.

Redesign of The Website and App

In addition to these developments, IndiGo has improved user experience overall by redesigning its mobile application and website to provide a smooth and intuitive user interface.
