Korea Tourism Shines in India: Highlights from 2024 Roadshows

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) held successful roadshows in Bengaluru and Mumbai, introducing Korean leisure and MICE offerings to Indian audiences. The event featured a culinary performance team, CHEF, and a high-level delegation from KTO headquarters. The Korean delegation and Indian travel experts fostered strong ties, aiming to bring 20,000 MICE delegates from India by 2024. The Korea MICE Nights marked the culmination of Mumbai’s MICE Roadshow.

A distinguished delegation consisting of the Busan Tourism Organization (BTO) and ten renowned Korean destination management companies (DMCs) attended these events. The vibrant culinary performance team, CHEF, who were brought in from Korea and mesmerized spectators with a combination of beatboxing, B-boying, and live cooking battles, added a distinctive ethnic flare to the nights.

On April 23 and 25, 2024, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) wrapped off a successful run of roadshows in Bengaluru and Mumbai, introducing Indian audiences to Korea’s leisure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) offerings.

A distinguished delegation consisting of the Busan Tourism Organization (BTO) and ten renowned Korean destination management companies (DMCs) attended these events. The vibrant culinary performance team, CHEF, who were brought in from Korea and mesmerized spectators with a combination of beatboxing, B-boying, and live cooking battles, added a distinctive ethnic flare to the nights.

MTDC, IRCTC senior officers, heads of major travel associations, and distinguished dignitaries from India Tourism (Ministry of Tourism, Government of India) graced the roadshows, demonstrating the organization’s strong commitment to the Indian travel market. A high-level delegation from the KTO headquarters also attended.

Chang Wook Jung, Executive Director, MICE, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), led the group from KTO HQ. “The enthusiastic response at our recent roadshows in Bengaluru and Mumbai was truly inspiring,” Jung added, expressing his satisfaction. Strong ties within the MICE sector and the larger Indian travel business were fostered by the extremely fruitful conversations between our Korean delegation and Indian travel experts. We are thrilled to have accomplished our lofty goal of bringing in 20,000 MICE delegates from India by 2024.”

“We are thrilled by the momentum in India!” said Myong Kil Yun, Regional Director, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), “for SAARC & India.” The roadshows were a huge success, surpassing the target of greeting 200,000 Indian tourists this year. We are optimistic about reaching this challenging goal by presenting Korea’s many experiences, from leisure and MICE options to cultural events.”

Korea Nights were an amazing culmination of the roadshows. Korea Night 2024 in Bengaluru was a lively event that included interactive Korean food displays, fascinating dance acts, and great networking possibilities. Strong relations between the travel industries of India and Korea were cemented in 2024 with the big Korea MICE Night, which was the culmination of Mumbai’s MICE Roadshow, which encouraged strategic alliances within the MICE industry.
