In April 2024, Mumbai Airport handled 4.36 million passengers, a 9% increase from the previous year. The airport, which has excellent infrastructure and connectivity, experienced a record-breaking single day of traffic with 156,793 passengers. The top three domestic destinations were Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, while Dubai, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi were the most popular foreign destinations.
In April 2024, there were 26,870 ATMs in CSMIA. 6,978 foreign ATMs and 19,892 local ATMs were included in this. A record-breaking single day of traffic occurred on April 14th, with 156,793 passengers.
The number of bags processed at CSMIA in April 2024 was 3.47 million. When compared to April 2023, when 3.11 million bags were handled, this represented an increase of 11.61 percent year over year.
The top three domestic locations from CSMIA that have had the most passenger traffic are Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Dubai continue to be the most popular destinations for foreign tourism.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai had a notable increase in passenger traffic during the month of April 2024 on May 18, 2024. The airport’s excellent infrastructure and remarkable connectivity contributed to a 131% rise in passengers in April 2019 above the pre-pandemic levels.
With 4.36 million passengers handled in April 2024—a 42% rise from April 2022 and a 9% increase from April 2023—CSMIA demonstrated its status as the world’s busiest aviation hub. The airport’s consistent increase in both domestic and foreign traveler volume confirms its standing as the nation’s aviation sector leader.

26,870 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) were recorded at the airport in April 2024, of which 19,892 were domestic and 6,978 were foreign. Compared to April 2022 (21,597) and April 2023 (25,477), this figure indicates increases of 24% and 5%, respectively. With 156,793 passengers transiting through CSMIA on April 14, the largest passenger traffic movement of the month was recorded. Of them, 113,540 were domestic and 43,253 were foreign.
Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad were determined to be the most popular domestic CSMIA destinations in April 2024. In the meanwhile, the most popular foreign travel destinations were Dubai, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi. In both local and foreign markets, domestic airlines had the largest market share overall.
Furthermore, 3.47 million bags were handled at CSMIA in total during the month, an increase of 11.61% over April 2023 (3.11 million).
