Sanglaphu Lake, located in the Mangan district of Sikkim, is now accessible to the public for the first time. The holy lake, known as the “Great Lake,” is surrounded by beautiful forests and snow-capped hills. To preserve the lake’s purity, guests are advised not to bring single-use plastic products and to use four-wheel drive vehicles. The lake is a significant source of the Lachen stream.

Sanglaphu Lake in the Mangan district is now available to the public. Located close to Yumesamdong, at a height of 5080m. Stress is placed on protecting the environment and culture, and Sikkim promotes responsible tourism.

There was a time when visitors could not reach this high-altitude lake. The stunning Sanglaphu Cho (lake) is situated at a height of 16,670 feet, or 5080 meters. Yumesamdong also called Zero Point, is close to Lachung, it is around 5 kilometers.

Sanglaphu Cho, often referred to as the “Great Lake,” is a holy lake with profound religious importance. Locals come here often to pray and ask for favors. The lake is surrounded by beautiful forests and snow-capped hills, lending an air of peace and quiet to the area.

The lake’s inauguration ceremony was equally amazing! Monks from the Samten Choling Monastery in Lachung led a ceremonial prayer to mark the lake’s official inauguration.

Representatives of the hotel association, taxi drivers, and respected members of the Lachung dzomsa were present at the occasion.

However, there are a few important steps you must take before you book your trip in order to preserve the lake’s purity and the surrounding ecosystem. It is requested that guests not bring any single-use plastic products, such as tetra packs.

It is now advised that only four-wheel drive vehicles approach the lake; but, as the snow progressively melts, more vehicles will be able to access it. It is strictly prohibited to spit in the area around the lake.

Hidden deep in Sikkim’s northeast sits Sanglaphu, a recognized historic site. In addition to being a natural marvel, it has great theological importance.
