Fast Track Immigration

The Delhi Airport, run by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), is the first airport in India to implement the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP), an innovative initiative by the Government of India. Amit Shah, the Minister of Home Affairs, launched this project at Terminal 3, promising Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cards a more seamless travel experience by enabling them to use e-gates instead of conventional emigration/immigration lines.

Travel with New Fast Track Immigration: 10 Key Points To Know

  1. First in India: Delhi Airport, managed by DIAL, is the first in India to implement the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP).
  2. Launch: The program was launched by Amit Shah, the Minister of Home Affairs, at Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport.
  3. Eligibility: The FTI-TTP is available to Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders.
  4. E-Gates: The program allows eligible travelers to use e-gates for faster immigration clearance instead of traditional lines.
  5. Application Process: Applicants must register online, submit biometrics, and provide other required data, with the process taking up to one month.
  6. Verification: Membership is subject to verification and the validity of the passport, which must be valid for at least six months.
  7. Facilities: Terminal 3 has eight e-gates, four for arrivals and four for departures, enhancing efficiency.
  8. Reduced Congestion: The e-gates aim to significantly reduce congestion at the airport by offering pre-verified passengers fast clearance.
  9. Global Comparison: The FTI-TTP is comparable to the US Global Entry Program, offering expedited immigration and security clearance for low-risk, pre-approved travelers.
  10. Registration Steps: To sign up, travelers must apply online, undergo verification by the Bureau of Immigration, and complete biometric enrollment at the FRRO or a special counter at Delhi Airport.

An innovative program called the FTI-TTP was created to provide Indian citizens and holders of OCI cards a quicker, simpler, and more secure travel experience. Those who meet the requirements may register online; the registration procedure may take up to one month. Applications must be submitted with a valid passport that is valid for at least six months since membership will be contingent upon the validity of the passport.

Biometrics (fingerprints and face pictures) and other needed data must be submitted as part of the application procedure. Registration is finalized after the requisite verifications.

Increased effectiveness at Terminal 3

To provide program participants with a smooth experience, Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3 now has eight electronic gates: four for arrivals and four for departures. This first-of-its-kind facility in India offers pre-verified passengers fast clearance, which seeks to drastically decrease airport congestion. Demand may lead to a rise in the number of e-gates.

CEO of DIAL Videh Kumar Jaipuriar commented on the news, saying, “This program will offer a world-class and seamless travel experience to all international passengers opting for this facility.” He expressed delight in the relationship with the Indian government. Indian passport holders and OCI cards may use these e-gates, avoid usual lines, and have a more seamless travel experience with the Trusted Traveller Programme. The goal of this technology-driven project is to streamline and expedite the emigration and immigration clearance procedure.

Comparable to the Global Entry Program of the US Department of Homeland Security, the FTI-TTP enables low-risk, pre-approved travelers to take advantage of expedited immigration and security clearance upon arrival. The FTI-TTP roadmap was created by the Ministry of Home Affairs in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

How to sign up for the FTI-TTP

  • Fill out an application and submit the necessary information on the government website, www.ftittp.mha.gov.in (http://www.ftittp.mha.gov.in).
  • The information will be confirmed by the Bureau of Immigration.
  • After verification, authorized travelers will get a confirmation email or SMS directing them to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or a special counter at Delhi Airport for biometric enrollment.

With this new project, Delhi Airport will be positioned as a pioneer in modernizing immigration operations, further demonstrating the Government of India’s commitment to improving travel ease and efficiency for Indian citizens and OCI cards.
