The Sikkim government held a two-day workshop on tourism awareness, part of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 campaign, in Gangtok. The event focused on sustainable development and rural tourism, with officials underlining the importance of tourism for income and sustainable growth. Participants received certificates as a reward.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) for Gangtok recently ended a two-day program on tourism awareness.
The workshop, which was part of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 project, was arranged by the government’s Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Several officials, including Bandana Chettri, the additional secretary, and Prakash Chhetri, the secretary of the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, were present at the event, which was held at the department’s conference hall.
In addition to thanking everyone for coming, Chhetri underlined the significance of tourism as a crucial source of income. Additionally, he supported the development of rural tourism as a means of sustainable growth.

The Ministry of Tourism has initiated two new initiatives under Swadesh Darshan 2.0: the Eco-Wellness Experience at Yuksom Cluster, Gyalshing, and the Gangtok Cultural Village at Namli.
The course included seminars on adventure tourism, IT-enabled services, ethical and sustainable tourism, as well as behavioral and communication skills.
As a reward for their active participation in the program, participants received certificates. The project coordinator for Swadesh Darshan 2.0, Ms. Yangchen Tongden Lepcha, made the motion to extend gratitude.
