Turkey, one of the world’s most popular travel destinations, has seen a sharp increase in Indian tourists. 126,000 Indian tourists visited Turkey between January and May of 2024, a 34% increase over the same period in 2023. This increase is especially noteworthy in light of the fact that 274,000 Indian visitors visited Turkey in total in 2023. The notable increase in Indian tourism is evidence of Turkey’s ongoing attraction and its deliberate attempts to draw in more Indian travelers.

Important locations like Istanbul, which is well-known for its historical sites, lively culture, and distinctive culinary experiences, are still popular selections.

Known for their breathtaking beaches and opulent resorts, coastal areas like Antalya and Bodrum are famed for their unusual wedding rituals, lavish festivities, and events. This remarkable expansion may be ascribed to proactive PR and advertising efforts in India as well as fruitful partnerships with Indian partners, such as business travelers, wedding coordinators, and travel agencies. In association with the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Türkiye Tourism wrapped off a successful six-city India Roadshow earlier this year. The objective of this endeavor was to enhance the relationship between Turkish and Indian travel agencies, promoting cooperation and creating new opportunities.

In the future, Türkiye will continue to collaborate closely with Indian travel agencies, with major tourist promotion coming from programs like the OTOAI (Outbound Trip Operators Association of India) mega fam trip. The current journey, which took place from June 30 to July 6, 2024, was intended to introduce Indian travel agents to Turkey’s many attractions. Forty OTOAI members, representing a variety of areas and tourist interests, participated in this fascinating initiative from all across India.

Travelers from India are drawn to the nation by its dynamic cities, breathtaking scenery, and plenty of cultural attractions, all of which point to future expansion.
