Turkish Airlines Eyes New Zealand Expansion, Strengthening Its Global Network

Turkish Airlines targets New Zealand with plans for Auckland flights, expanding its global network and connecting more destinations worldwide.

Turkish Airlines Targets New Horizons in New Zealand and Expands Global Reach

Turkish Airlines is gearing up to include New Zealand in its flight network, building on its remarkable success in the Australian market.

Having launched direct flights from Melbourne and Sydney to Istanbul last year, the airline has now confirmed that Auckland is a key destination in its future expansion plans.

Passengers traveling on the Istanbul-Melbourne route already enjoy a seamless stopover at Singapore’s Changi Airport. Business class travelers and top-tier frequent flyers, including Star Alliance Gold members such as Air New Zealand Airpoints Gold and Elite cardholders, can relax at the premium airport lounge before reboarding the same aircraft to complete their journey. A similar experience is expected for the Auckland route.

In addition to its New Zealand ambitions, Turkish Airlines is planning to expand its U.S. network with a new long-haul service to Minneapolis, expected to commence in April or May. This will add to the airline’s impressive presence in the United States, where it already serves 13 cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Washington D.C., Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Newark, Dallas, Seattle, and Detroit.

On the regional front, Turkish Airlines continues to restore vital connectivity. The airline will resume flights to Damascus, Syria, on January 23 after a decade-long suspension, and services to Benghazi, Libya, were reinstated on January 14.

Turkish Airlines holds the Guinness World Record for flying to the most countries globally, with active routes in 120 nations over the past year. The official certificate was awarded at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport during the airline’s inaugural flight to Chile. This milestone further cements Turkish Airlines’ position as a leader in international aviation.

With its ambitious plans for New Zealand, a growing U.S. network, and renewed regional connections, Turkish Airlines is reinforcing its reputation as a global aviation powerhouse.
