The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced two significant advancements in Indian aviation.
The 81st IATA AGM will take place in Delhi, India in 2019, marking the event's 42-year return to the country.
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, will chair the IATA Board of Governors (BoG) after the 80th IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Dubai.
Elbers, a seasoned industry professional with over 30 years of expertise, was appointed to the Board again in 2022.
He highlighted India's role in the expansion of aviation and committed to advancing an inclusive and sustainable aviation sector.
The 81st IATA AGM will be held in Delhi in June 2025, hosted by IndiGo, the biggest airline in India.
IATA Director General Willie Walsh praised India's remarkable rise and infrastructural development, stating that India has become the third-largest aviation market globally.
