IndiGo Airlines, India's leading low-cost airline, has introduced a new seating option allowing female passengers to choose to sit next to other women.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing the comfort and privacy of female travelers, offering them more control over their seating arrangements.
When booking a flight, female passengers can opt to be seated next to other women by selecting seats marked with a special color code, typically pink.
Men making reservations are not shown this information, ensuring that the seating preference is available exclusively to women.
This initiative is part of IndiGo's larger #GirlPower campaign, which promotes the empowerment of women.

The program is currently in the trial phase, with IndiGo evaluating its effectiveness and potential for wider implementation.
The initiative aligns with existing practices in India, where women-only sections are available on buses and trains to ensure their comfort and safety.
Similar policies are being implemented in other countries, such as Slovakia, where the national railway operator offers women-only cabins on certain trains.
